Carol began her training at the Aveda Fredric's Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Van Michael Salons (consistently rated "Atlanta's Best" for 30 years) in Atlanta, Georgia. There, she trained under Van Michael Color Director and Aveda Guest Artist Natalie Gurley's intense color specialist program. After seven years at the Van Michael Salons, Carol accepted an opportunity to bring her skills to New York City, working and instructing at the Aveda Vandam Salon and Aveda Advanced Academy.
Carol's work, with its focus on color change, caught the attention of Aveda's Global Artist Team and Technical Color Director Ian Michael Black, and she was invited to collaborate on testing the expansiveness of Aveda Full Spectrum Permanent Hair Color, having created some unique and beautiful colors. Carol supported Black, and Aveda Guest Artist Lupe Voss through Aveda Advanced Academy classes in her role as Aveda Certified Color Educator, and lead her peers and the associates through Aveda Vandam Salon training.

2015 marked a year for exciting changes, as Carol realized that the Midwest is where her heart is, but NYC is important, too. After much consideration, she decided to divide her time, living in Minnesota and returning once a month to New York. She maintains her NYC clients at Spoke & Weal Soho. In July 2015, Carol joined the team at Juut Salonspa, and is now accepting new guests at the St Paul, Minnesota location.
"I believe that every client deserves a customized color service. My consultation is my opportunity to understand what each guest likes, and dislikes, and how I can help them love their hair."
